No single issue impacts the health and vitality of our community and workforce more than education. UNI’s initial focus has been on the critical foundation area of early education. UNI secured funding to bring two United Way of Greater Kansas City programs to our target area.

Success By 6 Center
The UNI Center is a partnership with Kansas City Public Schools and the Parents as Teachers Program. The Center is located at Richardson Early Learning Center and provides a free lending library of educational toys, books and games as well as the support of a parent educator for parents, care givers and teachers.

Dolly Parton Imagination Library
The Library provides high-quality, age appropriate books to children between birth and age five. The books are free and are mailed to the child’s home every month.

UNI Read Day
UNI and its partners sponsor door to door outreach days with community volunteers and neighborhood residents. The purpose is to enroll youngsters in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, inform residents about the Success By 6 Center at Faxon, and disseminate neighborhood and other relevant community information.
